Have you ever felt a little lost, not knowing which direction to go in? Or if you are making the right decisions? Then worrying about how this will affect your life down the line or if you will look back and the regret the opportunities you didn’t seize when you had the chance? You are not alone, it’s normal to feel this way. Let’s discuss how you can make the most of your 20s, worry-free and without regrets…
Navigating Life In Your 20s
This year I will turn 26 and I have learned so much in that time. Not just about me but also other people and the decisions they make and other peoples expectations. In a world of social media where we look at constant highlight reels, it’s easy to get caught up in thinking that you want what other people have. We base our wants on an unrealistic vision of perfection. We change the way we live our lives and we don’t even know we are doing it. Ultimately, it can become very easy to get frustrated in your 20s because life doesn’t go as you expected or you feel like you aren’t where you want to be. Maybe this is because you are stuck in your comfort zone…
Playing It Safe
The further you get into your 20s the more expectations there are. You ‘should’ have a good job, buy a home, settle down. The problem is, people never ask if you are happy. We just seem to judge by materialistic items and a perfect Instagram life. Our lives become about ‘keeping up’ with everyone else, rather than living our own truth. The things we really want to pursue and experience end up getting pushed to the side. Don’t forget you can choose how you want to live and do the things you want to do.
Do what scares you
The only way you are going to look back without regrets is to pursue what scares you. What are your dreams? Or what would be amazing to experience? Go after those things, deep down these are what you truly want. Take that trip, change career path. Anything really is possible. Don’t make excuses as to why you are staying in a position you are
What stops us from doing the things we want? Excuses. There really isn’t a reason why you can’t do something. It is all down to you making it happen. Prioritise what you want most and find a way to actually do it.
How To Be Happy?
You may be wondering, so what do I need to do to be happy? Honestly, it’s only you that knows the answer. The most important thing to remember is to make your decisions based on what you truly want. Don’t do something just because your friends are or people ‘expect’ you to be doing it at your age.
There is no right or wrong when it comes to life, so why do we have these expectations in society? We all have our own paths, it’s okay to live your life differently to everyone else. Life will most definitely throw you curveballs and things will happen that you didn’t expect. Being happy is about accepting what is and the things that are out of your control. Above all, focus on what you can control. When you know what you want to get out of life, pursuing these things is what is going to make you truly happy and will allow you to live a fulfilled life.
