Are you stuck in a routine that you don’t know how to break out of? Maybe you feel a bit lost in terms of moving your life forward and finding your path. I am going to take you through five steps that will enable you to clear your mind, determine what you want and actually enforce change into your life. By deciding what it is you actually want, you give yourself clear motive to not give in to working in your goals. What you want to achieve long term should spark your determination. What are you waiting for, changing your life begins right now.
1. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY
Its time to get extremely honest with yourself. Start evaluating where you are right now. Have a think about what has gone well in the past and also what has gone wrong. Why did things go wrong and what could you have done differently. Think about how well you deal with having goals and inflicting change in your life. By analysing areas in which you struggle you can help yourself not fall into these pitfalls in future.
2. WHAT DO YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE & WHY?
Before you can start creating goals you need to think about your future. When was the last time you evaluated what you actually want in life? Think about your answer and come up with a plan, ensure it is 100% you and not influenced by anyone else. By looking at the bigger, long term picture of what you want your life to look like you can then create the smaller goals to actually get there. Whenever you are feeling unmotivated just realign yourself with your end goal.
3. SET REALISTIC GOALS
If you have done the previous two steps properly you should have no problem creating your goals. Working back from what you want to achieve, think about the things you need to do to get there. Your goals can be small and measured frequently or they could be bigger achievements over a long period of time. It all depends what will work best for you. Smaller goals will help you stay on track and have a sense of accomplishment quicker, this should help you stay motivated.
4. TAKE ACTION
The only thing between where you are right now and where you want to be, is the strategy you are using to get there. If you aren’t taking action, nothing will change. You have done the difficult part of deciding what you want and how you are going to get there. All you need to do is follow the plan you have created for yourself, which is your list of goals.
5. STAY FOCUSED > REMEMBER WHAT YOU WANT TO ACHIEVE
Sometimes it is easy to feel overwhelmed when you have a list of goals in front of you. Try to work through your goals in a steady pace and take it one point at a time. If you fall behind, reanalyse where you are and what’s going wrong. Get yourself back on track and keep going. The only thing between you and the life you want is yourself.
I hope you find this useful and it gives you the motivation to get started. Work from step 1 to 5 thoroughly. The more time you take in each step, the more meaningful your reasoning is which should make it harder for you to give up. Remember, nothing is out of your reach, if you want something go and get it, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
