The best feeling is visiting somewhere for the first time and finding that it looks so much better in person than in pictures. If you love a short break away that has amazing views, then Durdle Door & Lulworth Cove are definitely worth a visit!
Lulworth Cove, Dorset
I visited Lulworth Cove first which actually worked out well as you can walk across to Durdle Door. As the name suggests, this is a cove situated on the Jurassic Coast in Dorset. There are lots of cottages in the town and there are a couple of places you can eat. I would recommend visiting Lulworth Cove first and then heading over to Durdle Door as there aren’t as many facilities there.
When I visit again I will definitely spend more time wandering around and seeing the different views. It was mostly cloudy at the time I visited, it would be beautiful here when sunny. Luckily, the sky cleared when we got to Durdle Door.
From the carpark, you can see a very big hill that has a path going all the way up and disappears on the horizon. This path is a hike to Durdle Door, the path gets very steep but it gets easier after this point. The view you get of Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door from here makes it worth the walk! If you don’t fancy the walk you can drive over to Durdle Door.
Durdle Door, Dorset
Durdle Door is a natural limestone arch in Dorset, you have most probably seen this pictured somewhere – it is a very popular tourist destination in Dorset. Even the walk up to it is really nice and the arch itself isn’t visible until you get right by the steps to the beach. I took a walk following the cliff edge to the right of Durdle Door and it was – amazing! Such a WOW moment. Looking at beautiful views like this really makes me feel grounded and carefree.
As we were there, the clouds began to clear and the sun came out. I’m so glad it did because it showed just how beautiful it is. A short break here in summer would be perfect, I definitely want to come back. Both Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove have beaches that you can access – great for a summer break.
