HAYLEYXMARTIN - BEAUTY FAVOURITES 2017

I am making 2018 the year I really start exploring makeup and the different brands in the industry. Whenever I am shopping I feel bad if I treat myself. Whether it’s because the item is high end or I just generally don’t know if it will work for me, I feel guilty and don’t buy it. Looking back at when I was working full-time I feel I should have treated myself more and experimented with different brands. I recently did a bit of makeup shopping, you can see what I bought on Instagram. The items weren’t necessarily new releases, but products that are considered to be ‘holy grail’. Before I start reviewing those products, I wanted to break down what I loved using in 2017.

BEAUTY FAVOURITES 2017

HAYLEYXMARTIN - BEAUTY FAVES - TARTELETTE

MAKEUP:

Revlon Colorstay Foundation [Combination Oily] – 220 Natural Beige or 240 Medium Beige –

I have used this for years now, it is really good for oily skin. This is great for an everyday foundation as it covers most imperfections but doesn’t look cakey.

L’Oreal Superliner –

At the moment this is the eyeliner I find easiest to apply and keep coming back to. The applicator is like a felt tip pen and I find it really easy to control.

Tarte Tartelette Vault –

I love the palettes within this set. I won’t be buying eyeshadow for a while as I am going to try and use up these and my naked palettes. If you want to build your eyeshadow palette collection, these are worth getting. Read the review of the Tartelette Vault here.

I really enjoyed discovering Tarte products throughout 2017. You probably have heard of the new Shape Tape foundation and I really do feel it is unacceptable to launch with the shades they did. I don’t want to support a brand that isn’t inclusive of everyone. Therefore this year I am going to be exploring other brands who are.

Maybelline Colorsensational Lip Liner –

If you have been following my blog for a while, you probably know that I don’t wear a lot of lip products. I wore this lip liner on Halloween and actually really liked it. I found it really easy to apply and the formula is creamy enough that it can be worn on its own.

Urban Decay Eyeliner – Whiskey/Zero –

This is my favourite eyeliner. I love that this is available as a dual-ended pencil. It lasts a long time and applies really nicely, it is creamy but doesn’t smudge.

NYX Micro Brow Pencil – [Taupe] –

Brows are not my strong point when it comes to makeup but I really like this brow pencil. It makes it really easy to define your brows without them looking too harsh or drastic. I will definitely repurchase this. Read the review here.

HAYLEYXMARTIN - BEAUTY FAVES - SKINCARE FLAT LAY

SKINCARE:

La Roche Posay Effaclar Purifying Foaming Gel –

If you have sensitive skin, get this cleanser. This is one of the few cleansers that I have tried that doesn’t make my skin flare up and irritate spots. I find this cleanser very gentle but still really effective and feel like my skin is clean.

Garnier Micellar water [Oil Infused] –

Garnier has now released several different formulas of Micellar Water. I prefer the one developed with oil infused into it, even though I have oily skin. This makes removing makeup very easy and it smells really nice. I heard micellar water can be drying on your skin, so that may be why I prefer this formula. Read the review here.

Garnier Moisture Bomb Night Supercharging Gel –

This is my favourite night cream. Even though I have combination/oily skin this gel is the perfect way to inject moisture into my skincare routine.

The Ordinary Lactic [5% – HA 2% ] –

I didn’t really know what to expect when I purchased this. All I knew was that you apply this at night and it will exfoliate your skin. I was worried that it would irritate my skin. I have almost used this all up and am wondering whether to get this again or the stronger version next time. Whenever I apply this I feel like my skin is really soft and radiant. Read the review here.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish –

This cleanser is the perfect product if your skin needs a little extra TLC. You can use it to take off makeup and then again as a hot cloth treatment. Every time I have used it my skin is smooth, soft and feels deep cleaned.

I really enjoyed reading your post about your 2017 favourites. I especially liked the section on skincare as I am looking to get into some new skincare – I’ve always wanted to try something from La Roche Posay and The Ordinary and after reading your post I think I am going to buy some bits x

They are both really great brands, I would recommend giving them a go! I have some items I am waiting to get from The Ordinary but every time I go to order them online… they aren’t all in stock at the same time, they always sell out really quick! xx

I am definitely going to buy a few pieces from each brand and see what I think. And yeah I have been wanting to try the foundation from The Ordinary and they were always sold out but just seen it is back in stock on Cult Beauty so might have to make an order! xx

Yeah I have seen so many people rave about the foundations! Have you tried anything from Glossier? Not sure if I am going to give them a go or not? xx

So much Tarte! I was obsessed with the garnier micellar oil last year too. I love the UD eyeliners. I need to try the Maybelline lip liners though! X

You’ve got some great picks here! I’m really interested in the L’Oreal liner. I haven’t tried it before but I’ve heard several times that L’Oreal make the best.

Give it a go, I keep coming back to it! It’s the Superliner Ultra Precision – I know L’Oreal do some really similar ones. I find that the tip isn’t too thin! xx

I used Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish for the first time last year and loved it too! I’ve also started using Micellar Water and it’s an absolute godsend! xxx
