How To Get Your Life Together

February 29, 2020 in Self-Development

Do you feel like your life isn’t going how you envisioned it would be ? Or are you stuck in the work, eat, sleep, repeat, monotonous routine? It’s so easy to slip into a rut that it’s not until we are in it that we even realise its taken hold of us. Having been in these situations myself, I have discovered that there are habits and attitudes that hold us back, or keep us in a bad place. Whether your whole life is about to change or you just need to tweak some areas, this is how to get your life together….

Identify the problems

I am currently looking for a new job and it’s really hard. Facing rejection, searching and applying. On the side of this, it’s difficult to maintain what was my normal life when on a tight budget. At this point in time, I have no idea when my next pay check will be, it makes me nervous to want to make plans or enjoy myself. In contrast, maybe you are struggling with maintaining balance in your life and you want to rediscover your identity outside of the workplace.

It’s really important to establish what is ultimately going to have a positive impact on your life. What problem came to mind when you clicked on this post? Pay attention to how you feel about the areas in your life – what are your ‘ideal’ scenarios and how can you get yourself there?

Take action

Once you have established what needs to change. Create yourself a realistic plan as to how you are going to incorporate this into your schedule. This is the best way to make it as easy as possible for yourself, all you have to do now is follow your plan. If you have to, create a daily timetable – this way you know exactly what you should be doing and when. Guess what, if you follow this, you WILL achieve what you set out to change.

Stop self-sabotaging

When we feel low, it would be silly to do things that make us feel worse, right? We know that exercise, eating healthy and reading self help will improve our mindset, yet we struggle to actually do it – insane?!

Focus on the things that make you feel good. You can make the best of a bad situation; for example, I’m currently looking for work, however, because of this I have time to exercise, read & focus on learning a language. Read my post on productivity hacks – guess what, it’s about feeling good mentally & physically!

No matter the situation, we all have the opportunity to change or make tweaks in our life. Whether it fixes the problem entirely, or you can ‘make the best of a bad situation’, there is always something that can be done. Life has ups and downs, there’s no avoiding it, but you can control your approach and how you choose to handle challenges. What are you going to do differently?
