As Corona Virus (COVID-19) sweeps across the globe, we are seeing countries enforcing lockdown in order to try and slow down the spread and enable health services to cope with the outbreak. As more and more countries in Europe close down public places and events, it is likely that the UK will follow the same course in due time. If you are working from home, self isolating or on lockdown, here are 20 productive things you can do at home.
20 Productive Things To Do At Home
1. CLEAN
An obvious one given the current circumstances, however, being that you will be spending a lot more time at home, having a clean environment makes such a difference on your mood. Honestly, who doesn’t love their home after having a cleaning spree with Zoflora?!
2. DE-CLUTTER
What better time will there be to go through your home and have a serious de-clutter. Go through your wardrobe, drawers, storage spaces. Why not earn yourself some extra money when everything is back to normal by sorting yourself things to sell. Raise your hand if you have items in your wardrobe that have tags on still ?
3. EXERCISE
Just because you are at home, doesn’t mean you can’t exercise. Youtube has amazing at home workout plans that don’t require a lot of space or any equipment. From yoga to HIT workouts there is something for everyone. No excuses!
4. READ
If you want to be super productive, read something that is teaching or helping you in some way. Sometimes it’s difficult finding the time to read with all the distractions of modern life, what a perfect time to get stuck into a book.
5. CREATE NEW GOALS AND AN ACTION PLAN
Sometimes we need to step back and evaluate our life. If you have some time off work, you can use this time to evaluate all the areas of your life. What are you happy with? What would you like to change. The most important part of this, is making an action plan!
6. MAKE A VISION BOARD
You’ve just made yourself new goals and an action plan. How about making a vision board to really see your plans come together. If you are sceptical as to whether it will ‘work’, just see it as a fun activity. I found it really got me thinking about what was important to me, on a deeper level.
7. LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE
Why not see the positive in the extra time you now have on your hands by spending it doing something you didnt commit to in the past. If you wait and just keep wishing, or saying you want to do something, chances are you never will. Start now and work out how to incorporate it into your daily routine later.
8. FINALLY DO THINGS YOU’VE BEEN PUTTING OFF
We all have those things that we conveniently just never get around to doing, yet they always stay in the back of your mind. How good would it feel to take the weight off your shoulders? Make yourself to-do lists and give yourself small achievable tasks.
9. LEARN A NEW SKILL
Ever thought about learning something new or improving on something you currently know a little about? Make yourself a mini ‘lockdown project’ to keep yourself busy whilst at home. You will then know if you want to devote time in your normal routine to keep developing this skill or if something different is better suited to you.
10. HAVE A SELF-CARE PAMPER EVENING
Don’t let everything go out of the window because your routine has changed, or maybe you feel stressed about the whole situation. Make sure to practice self care, go all out and have a little spa evening. Hopefully this helps you feel relaxed and boosts your mood. If you aren’t taking care of yourself, chances are you won’t really want to be productive.

11. FIND YOUR PASSION
When you are busy living your day to day, going to work and coming home etc. It’s so hard to break out of that routine. You can’t just leave your job if you are reliant on the income to pay bills, yet you can feel like you aren’t getting the opportunity to explore what you are good at or what you enjoy. I feel like this is an issue for a lot of people. Use the time to research different things that you may be interested in pursuing.
12. GET YOUR FINANCES ON TRACK
There’s no better time than the current moment to go through your finances and get everything in order. I know it’s difficult to face in the moment but you will be so grateful for it in a couple of months time. Sort through everything, income, direct debits, charges etc. Then set yourself budgets and goals.
13. CREATE A SCHEDULE – OPTIMISE YOUR TIME MANAGEMENT
You can do this now for your new home routine and a revised version of your ‘normal’ routine. We get so set in our day to day that we don’t really think about optimising our time. How much time are you wasting scrolling – yet you have probably also said that you ‘don’t have time’ to launch that business idea.
14. MAKE A MEAL PLAN
Spend some time researching new recipes and put yourself together a fresh new meal plan to switch things up. I love the idea of having a rotating week schedule so that you don’t repeat meals too close together, to avoid wearing off the novelty.
15. PICK A NEW HOBBY
Yes, I am aware that in number 11 I suggested finding your passion. Is it the same thing? Not necessarily. I feel as though we would all like to earn money online, monetise our passions, start businesses doing what we love etc. However, how many things do you do, purely because you enjoy it? It’s important to have separate hobbies!
16. ORGANISE YOUR COMPUTER FILES
Who wants to spend their weekends or annual leave doing this?! If you are really struggling for things to do, get those files organised! This also includes your phone, when was the last time you backed up your pictures?
17. CREATE 1, 3 AND 5 YEAR PLANS
This is an additional step if you went down the creating goals route. If done properly you will see that your goals are realistically achievable! Think about your goal and what smaller steps you need to do from now to get you to that point.
18. SIGN UP FOR AN ONLINE COURSE
You can learn pretty much anything online, with endless free content available online – we really have no excuses. If you wish to dig a little deeper and maybe get certified in something, go for a course! I highly recommend taking a look on Udemy! (Hint – they often have really cheap sales!)
19. LISTEN TO PODCASTS
If you struggle to sit and focus, why not find a new podcast to listen to instead. Grab your Zoflora, podcast on and get cleaning – I don’t think it gets more productive than that!
20. SPEND GUILT-FREE TIME DOING WHAT YOU ENJOY
If you have got this far, well done! If you feel you have been making progress with your productivity and getting things done, don’t feel guilty for taking some time to just relax and do the things you enjoy.
