You know that feeling when everything is going fine and then all of a sudden BOOM, you feel unmotivated, unsure of the things you are doing, no sense of purpose. Don’t worry, it’s completely normal and everyone experiences it every now and then. What’s important is how you react to these feelings and bounce back stronger.
What to do when you feel lost in life?
First things first, do not try to hide your feelings or ignore them. It’s so important to feel the emotions and then try to work out why you feel this way and what you can do to make things better for yourself.
Analyse all aspects of your life
Think about it, are you letting yourself burnout? Do you have too much going on? Have you got a strong support network that you can confide in? Maybe the problem is something more specific, like your job. Grab a bit of paper and write down the areas that you aren’t completely happy about – next to them, write down the ideal solutions to fix or ease the problems.
What is contributing to your personal growth?
I recently realized that there were routines I was struggling to uphold that, actually, didn’t have such a big impact if I slowed down a little. It is so easy to get used to our routines, that we don’t actually question if our time would be more effectively used doing something else. Question everything – what are your habits contributing to?
Do your Short Term Goals align with your Long Term Goals?
This may sound a bit obvious, however, hear me out. If your end goal is to be financially free, to spend time how and where you wish, your short-term goals probably won’t help you if they are causing the opposite effect. Sure, everyone has to hustle, but you shouldn’t burn yourself out in the process!
Reinvent yourself
If you feel like you need a complete overhaul of your life, then do it! One step at a time, start making changes and implementing different things. It is never too late to start doing something. It is so easy to get used to comfort that we make excuses without even realizing it. When you take a step back and think about problems logically, you will find that you have more control over your life than you think.
What can you do right now?
Sometimes it can be extremely off-putting when you want to make changes, but you end up disheartened due to the amount of time it will take to get to the end result. When analyzing the bigger picture it’s important to highlight, what you can be focusing on now and what will take more time. There’s nothing worse than being on a ‘get your life together’ kick, only to then think, well nothing is changing and just give up.
Time to focus
I am someone who gets frustrated when I feel like I’m not progressing or being productive with my time. I have realized this year that sometimes you just need processing time to think about what you want and what your next moves are. If you don’t know what you want, how are you going to make decisions that are going to move you in the right direction?
