If you are following me on social media you know that I am at Center Parcs for the weekend. I thought it would be a great opportunity to show you what I like to take in my travel make up bag. Having read a lot of these posts, I think they are really interesting because everyone has different items that are essential to them. Personally, I don’t have a huge makeup ‘collection’. I like to own and keep the products I love and use often. For this reason I don’t find packing very difficult, but I do find I still pack things that I don’t end up using. I’m going to share my thought process whilst packing and tips to save space.
Deciding What To Pack In Your Travel Makeup Bag
Whenever I am travelling I always have a think about where I am going and what makeup looks I am likely to want to create. Will I only need my everyday makeup or night time looks as well? If you only need your basic items you will be able to save space and not pack things you won’t need.
Make use of the multi purpose items in your collection, especially if you are needing to bring day & night time makeup. My favourite product for this is the Urban Decay Naked palette. It isn’t too bulky and contains lots of different eye shadows that can easily transform a makeup look. Another great way to save space is by combining your products that can be removed from packaging (depotting). Then placing them into a new empty palette, they are usually magnetic and will hold the product pans in place.
My Travel Makeup Bag
For this trip I decided I only needed my everyday makeup products. I probably could have brought less but I had space so packed a couple of extras. These are the items I like to use on an everyday basis, I won’t necessarily use everything, but have them just in case. For example, today I am only wearing eye makeup.
Revlon Colorstay Combination/Oily – 220 Natural Beige
Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil – 002 Hazel
Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara
Maybelline Anti-Age Eraser Concealer – Light
Benefit Hoola Bronzer
Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hour Blush – Paaarty
L’Oreal Super Liner – Black
L’Oreal La Touché Magique Concealer – Ivory Beige
Maybelline Matte Maker Mattifying Powder – 30 Natural Beige
Nivea Hydro Care Lipbalm
Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencil – Zero/Whiskey
Urban Decay Naked Palette
Anastasia Beverly Hills Glow Kit – Gleam
Travel Makeup Packing Tips:
- Bring multi purpose products
- Depot items into a custom palette
- Put products in smaller containers (foundation)
- Bring sample/mini sized items
- Pack the bare minimal if you buy makeup whilst travelling (duty free/Sephora etc)
- Flying with just carry on luggage? All liquids must be 3.4 ounces/100ml or less – Swap liquid products for powder if possible.
- Put touch up products and lip balm in handbag – pack everything else away separately.
- Pack fragile items amongst clothing to help cushion them.
I hope this post has been helpful!

Absolutely agree on multi-purpose products, they’re so handy for travel! I’m a light packer for make-up but I’m such an over-packer for clothes!
