The Sims is my favourite game franchise of all time. Currently in the fourth generation of the game, the animation and content is better than ever. I personally feel that some of the Sims 4 expansions are a bit of hit and miss. If you are buying them full price it is alot of money to spend on an expansion. Therefore I research into them and decide if it something that I really want added to my game. One expansion I have been waiting for EA to release on Sims 4 is pets. The expansion is available on the first, second and third generation of the sims games. Up until now there has been no news of the Sims 4 Pets.
Earlier on this week EA announced that The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs will be released in November. There is a reveal trailer for the expansion, showing a little bit about what the pack will include. It is safe to say I will definitely purchase this expansion, this is the pack I have been wanting to see released for Sims 4 the most. Check out the Sims 4 Cats & Dogs reveal trailer: here.
The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs Expansion
So other than the obvious addition of pets to your game, what exactly will this expansion bring?
Create A Pet Tool
Something that caught my attention in the reveal trailer was the level of customisation when creating your pet. This expansion introduces the Create A Pet tool. You are able to change the pets features, similar to how you can in Create A Sim. New to this generation of the expansion, outfits and accessories are available for your pets, WHAT! I am going to be spending way too much time dressing up cats & dogs. So excited!
Interact & Bond With Pets
It has been a long time since I played the Sims 2 or 3, but I remember there being basic interactions with pets. It seems this time, the game is going way beyond this, introducing new ways to interact with pets making it more realistic. Relationships are formed between sims and their pets based on how they interact daily. Sims are able to care for, train and play games with their pets who have their own individual traits and behaviours.
This expansion introduces a brand new career to the game. Sims are able to become a vet and can run their own clinic. Sims can diagnose and cure pets by performing surgeries or treat fleas and other conditions. You can control what you charge for services and you manage the daily operations.
New Neighbourhood – Brindleton Bay
This brand new neighbourhood is unique to what we have seen before on the Sims 4. Brindleton Bay is a coastal town, it gives the impression of being an ‘open world’ because of the pier you can see in the above image. EA state that Sims and pets can live and enjoy outdoor activities, which gives me the impression there is a bigger emphasis on being out in the neighbourhood, could there be new activities introduced? I hope so! Sims are able to play fetch near the harbour docks, take a walk to the lighthouse and can set up an obstacle course at the park. Stray pets will wander Brindeton Bay, if you find one you are actually able to take the pet in as your own, if you so wish.
The Sims 4 Cats & Dogs will be released on the 9th November and is available to pre-order now. I am really excited for this expansion as it will change the dynamic of the game. My favourite expansions add something completely new to the game, rather than just adding something different to what already exists. I love how you can create your own pet and can choose them outfits. I am also really intrigued to explore the new neighbourhood.
Will you be buying this expansion?
What else are you hoping is brought to Sims 4?
