Current Obsession: Green Tea

October 23, 2017 in lifestyle

Now that the weather is getting colder, I am drinking a lot more hot drinks. I tend to just go for a tea or coffee but love to switch it up and have a couple of different options at home. I enjoy Green Tea as I feel it is better for you than drinking tea or coffee and has a lower caffeine content. The varieties available make a nice change to standard hot drinks. Let’s have a look at some of the claims about Green Tea being good for you.

Benefits of drinking Green Tea

If you look up the benefits of Green Tea on google, there are tons of statements in relation to the benefits of Green Tea. Claims state that Green Tea protects you from cancer, aids weight loss and cuts cholesterol. I had a look on the NHS website who state that the claims undertaken in relation to these points remain inconclusive.

Green Tea contains antioxidants, which help protect your body against diseases. It has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries to treat lots of conditions from headaches to depression.

Twinings Salted Caramel Green Tea

I am loving the salted caramel ‘trend’ at the moment. As usual, I am late to the bandwagon on this one. Yes, SALTED CARAMEL Green Tea. What’s not to love? If you have a sweet tooth I definitely recommend trying this one. If you weren’t sold already this sugar-free and only has 4 calories in each cup.

Twinings Jasmine Green Tea

I have been drinking Jasmine Green Tea for quite a while now. I’m not sure what made me want to try this variety but I really like. It is a bit of a strange taste at first but once you get used to it, it’s really nice. I can’t really describe what this is like, without saying it is a floral taste mixed with Green Tea. As I am now used to it, I can’t stop drinking it. If you are looking for a really different hot drink alternative to your usual tea or coffee, this is it!

What I love about Green Tea is that you feel like you are having a treat drink, but it is good for you. I find that these don’t make me feel sick as some coffees can if I put syrup flavours in them. I do find that caffeine can affect me easily and I will have trouble sleeping, so I prefer to drink Green Tea throughout the afternoon. These are my favourite when I need a little pick me up, perfect when I’m on my period and feeling sad.

Have you tried these?

What are your favourite hot drinks?
